Into the unknown

Down the centuries explorers has travelled around the world visiting most extraordinary places. The Vikings found America in the end of the 10th century, Amundsén reached the southpole in 1911 and Hillary climbed Mount Everest in the early 1950:s. Even though explorers covered most of the unknown areas, there still is widely unexplored areas on our planet.
Why do people want to go places we've never been before? Is it just a need to know? No, I think it goes far deeper than that. We explore so we may know the earth and the universe better and, along the way, ourselves. We embrace the struggle and accomplish things others thought impossible. The equipment we rely on is more than our tools. It is how we transport ourselves from who we are to who we will be. These are life's great moments. We do not explore to cheat death. We explore to celebrate life.
